Tips for Parenting Troubled Teens by Caitlina Fuller
Parenting troubled teens is never easy and different parents will have different approaches. Of course, doing what you feel is right is important but there are also some suggestions you should follow to help you understand that you are not alone in this situation and to help you through it. The teen years won't last forever so don't focus too much on your kid being a troubled teen forever. Instead, focus on helping your child deal with his problems so he can become the man you have dreamed he would become.
Patience When it comes to parenting your out of control teens you need to have patience. This is a hard one because you will want to see positive results immediately. But, many times your child will simply need to outgrow the behavior. You may need to send your child to a teen treatment center and this will also require patience for the program to work. Overall, if you can be patient then you will be able to deal with the situation significantly better.
Proactive As soon as you notice signs that your child is troubled you need to be proactive. Perhaps consider boot camps for teens way before you believe the boot camp is actually necessary. That's because an early start shows your child you aren't going to sit back and let him abuse drugs, alcohol, or do other things you don't approve of. Being proactive could reduce the intensity and length of your teens problems.
Unified Front Many times parents are at odds with the decision they must make regarding their troubled teen. If this occurs in your relationship don't ever allow your son or daughter to know this. You must show a united front at all times. This includes considering military boarding schools for the child even if one parent is against this idea. When your child realizes you are together as a team and that he can't play one parent against the other then your plans for helping him will be more successful.
As you can see there are some tips out there to help parents of troubled teens make the right choices and simply deal with living with a troubled teen. Of course, it won't be easy and it will take a lot of will power to handle all that will come your way. But, your troubled teen will eventually grow out of his troubled ways as long as you focus on helping him overcome his problems.

Menopause and Weight Gain
Menopause and Weight Gain by Ivan Hince
To a certain extent you may find it funny that an article about Menopause is being written by a man. But the side affects of living with a woman who is going through this delicate time of life is immense. I really truly believe that men should understand what women go through, and I hope that as many men read this article as women. The mood swings, the hot flushes, the lack of sleep, the weight gain, and general depression etc. Even being a mere man I understand what a difficult time it is for you girls, and I'm sure in some cases it's worse than others. But if you are suffering with the menopause please don't worry because you're not on your own. Millions of women are going through the same thing, and it may comfort you to know that there is an alternative to HRT, which is reported to be responsible for heart attacks, strokes, and even cancer. Compiling this article I have come across several references to the Menopause, and one that caught my eye was a website by a Lady called Cathy Taylor. She went on to say how she did a lot of research and how she can offer help and encouragement to any suffering from all the Menopause symptoms. She also tells of her frustration with the lack of adequate answers to the point she felt scared, discouraged, and unhappy with her life. The more she researched the more frustrated she became as she quotes that most of the information available was years out of date. What I would like to say is that women deserve to get the best knowledge, and information because is a difficult time for both men and women. Today's world with the Internet is getting easier for all to get that right information. Another thing I should say before we go any further is that is very important to work with your own Doctor through your problems, and the more you understand what you're going through, the better you will be able to talk to your Doctor about it.

How to beat and control Asthma
How to beat and control Asthma by Ivan Hince
After having my own Son who was a chronic Asthma suffer when he was younger, and having the knowledge just how bad this condition can be I understand what a constant battle to breathe it can be. It's almost as thou you want to breathe for them. In my Son's case the more he struggled to breathe, the more his temperature went up, which again caused other problems.
Often we would have to rush him to Hospital to be given life saving treatment, so when I began to look into this subject it bought back many frightening memories. The hours my Wife and myself have spent waiting in Hospitals listening to every breath he took, and thankfully there was always great Doctor's and Hospital staff to help, and understand what you and our Son was going through.
It was quite an eye opener as we tried different things to combat different allergies, as along with the Asthma came Eczema as well. We already new about Dust Mites from our local Doctor, and the vacuum cleaner was always out day and night. Many things were tried like Goat's Milk, and it almost seemed so frustrating as the more things you tried the worse things seemed to get.
To a certain extent we were lucky that our local Doctor was a Chest Specialist, and he was always sympathetic to our Son's condition. We learnt a lot in those days, and I guess were still learning now although my Son is now an adult, and rarely suffers.
Having an interest in Alternative Medicine I came across a website that kept me enthralled for quite some time. Now I have to say at this point that some Medical articles, or some Medical website's can be quite boring, but this one was a breath of fresh air. (No pun intended) It was written by a Lady by the name of Karen Beattie who like my own son had serious Asthma problems. She tells how with the aid of clinical trials she has learnt to overcome the effects of Asthma without the aid of drugs. Also she explains how the same report can help sufferers of Sinus and Allergies.
All this helps her to lead a normal life, and also enables her to sleep better, and she claims that this will work with anyone who uses the report. I don't at this stage want to make this sound like an advert as Asthma is a serious thing, and should be treated with respect.
Over the years you learn all sorts of information like that of my Father who also was a sufferer. We lived out in the country with a lot of land, and at a certain time of year a weed would grow which caused to severe attacks. Our job then as a family was to pull out or cut down this weed, and then burn as much as we could to alleviate his problems.
For those who don't know anything about Asthma I'll give a brief description, although I have to say I'm no medical expert. In Asthma attacks the airways in the lungs are constricted which causes the sufferer to gasp for breath as most of the lungs are closed off for a normal air flow. Not having oxygen in the lungs tends to want to shut the body down. The attacks can be caused by all forms of allergies, and the most common is Dust Mites, or animals such as Cats or Dogs. From my own point of view it's nice to know that there are alternatives as I shudder to think about the amounts of drugs my Son has gad to take.

What are the health benefits of soy ?
What are the health benefits of soy ? by oluwafemi adeleke
Research has proved that eating soy has many great health benefits that its consumption will prevent many diseases & promote good health. Yet many people are ignorant of this and those who know are relunctant to eat it because of the soy taste .(Fortunately, there is now a soy product that does not have the soy taste which I will talk about later). But let us read about the benefits first:
1) It Helps You Achieve Weight Loss
Soy helps you feel less hungry by sending a message to your brain that you are full.Another reason is that excessive secretin of insulin. Insulin is an hormone that causes the storage of sugar in your blood as body fat (which you don`t want).
2) It Promotes Beautiful & Smooth Skin, Hair & Nails
Though we don`t like it, as we grow older our skin begin to thin & wrinkle, looking less & less attractive. This is due to the loss of elastic & collagen tissues in our skin.Fortunately, soy proteins reduce the development of skin discolorations, wrinkles, & lines. How? It supplies high-quality protein & antioxidants needed for building & maintaining the appearance of such tissues.
3) It Lessens the Pains of Menopause & Postmenopause
Women of menopausal age can testify to the fact that that age could be "miserable". They experience lack of energy, mood swings, hot flashes & night sweats. This happens owing to decreasing amount of the oestrogen hormone in their bodies. The good news, however, is that apart from over 20 clinical trials, the medical review in American Family Physician (the journal of the prestigious American Association of Family Physicians) found that soy can significantly alleviate the discomforts of menopause. Medical scientists began to show great interest when demographic findings show that about 9% of women living in Asia, where the diet is rich in soy, have hot flashes in their menopausal age, as against about 80% of women in the Western world.
4) It ensures Low Cholesterol & Promotes Good Hear Condition It has been estimated that 1 out of 2 Americans are at the risk of heart disease, especially stroke & heart attack. Heart diseases have killed millions of Americans and it still does.It is largely due to the high cholesterol in the diet of the people. Fortunately, soy protein has been found to reduce the risk of heart disease. From clinical studies, Asians (who generally have a soy-rich diet) have better cardiovascular health than Americans. This is because soy is low in saturated fat & cholesterol. A study from 38 soy clinical trials published in New England Journal of Medicine revealed that eating soy regularly enhances normal cholesterol level.
5) It Promotes Normal Blood Sugar Level
High blood sugar level, as we know, is bad for our health as it can lead to diabetes. Worse still, virtually all diabetic patients are on drugs all their life. But soy is a good food to include in one`s diet as it prevents excessive amount of sugar in the blood stream.
But you cannot get the benefits unless you begin to eat food rich in soy protein. Therefore lay your hands on such and take charge of your life.

Fish Oil Side Effects
Fish Oil Side Effects by David McEvoy
Studies have consistently shown that taking fish oil supplements on a daily basis is a highly effective and efficient way of getting enough Omega 3 fatty acids in our diet to make a positive difference to our health, but what are the potential risks of any side effects?
Fortunately, side effects are rare and when taken in the correct dosage most people experience little if any side effects at all, but as with any supplement, there is always the possibility of experiencing some symptoms and fish oil is no different. So what should we be looking out for?
Fishy burps
By far the most common side effects reported are fishy burps, fishy breath or a fishy aftertaste in the mouth. This is completely harmless albeit slightly unpleasant but can largely be avoided by keeping your fish oil in the fridge and taking the fish oil along with food.
Stomach upsets
Some people have experienced other gastrointestinal side effects such as diarrhoea, indigestion, abdominal bloating, heartburn, mild stomach cramps and perhaps slight feelings of nausea but again, these side effects can be reduced or eliminated by taking the fish oil along with meals and by taking a lower dose to begin with and then gradually increasing it over a few weeks.
Increased risk of bleeding
The fatty acids in fish oil have an anticoagulant (blood thinning) effect which in most cases is a good thing, however, when fish oil is taken in particularly large doses or alongside other blood thinning agents, there is an increased risk of bleeding which can take the form of easy bruising or nosebleeds or longer bleeding times. Serious side effects are extremely rare but it is important that anyone who is already taking Aspirin, Warfarin (also known under the brand names Coumadin, Jantoven, Marevan and Waran) or any other blood thinning drugs should discuss the potential risks with their doctor before taking any fish oil supplements.
Mercury poisoning
A major worry with eating fresh fish is the amount of mercury and other toxins they can contain. Sadly, our seas are polluted and consequently so are our fish and so any toxins in the fish can also find their way into fish oil supplements unless the fish oil has had these contaminants removed. Pharmaceutical grade fish oil is an informal term that has been applied to fish oil that has been through processes such as molecular distillation and sophisticated filtering systems where the mercury and other undesirable elements in the fish oil are removed leaving purified and concentrated fish oil and so this risk is not relevant for high grade fish oils. A major advantage in buying a good quality or pharmaceutical grade fish oil is that it can be concentrated to contain very high levels of the most important fatty acids such as Eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and Docosahexaenoic acid (DHA). It also means you can take one or two capsules a day to get the same effect of maybe five or six capsules of lower or standard grade fish oils.
Other potential side effects
If the fish oil supplement contains vitamin A then there is an increased risk of vitamin A toxicity. Cod liver oil for example, is produced from the liver of fish where vitamin A is stored and can contain potentially high levels of Vitamin A so it is best avoided.
Fish oil can also go rancid very quickly and as Vitamin E is a powerful antioxidant it is added to some fish oils to keep them fresh. There have been some studies indicating that taking fish oil can increase the need for antioxidants so it is advisable to look for fish oil that has vitamin E added.
Other studies have suggested that fish oil might increase levels of low density lipoprotein (LDP) or bad cholesterol, but this depends on the dosage.
There have been some indications that fish oil can have a short term effect on blood glucose levels in people with Type 2 diabetes so anyone with diabetes should seek the advice of their doctor before taking fish oil supplements.
Conclusion
In general, the side effects from fish oil are few and far between if any at all and serious side effects are in fact extremely rare whereas the health benefits to be gained from taking fish oil supplements are enormous.
If you are on existing medication or have other health problems or are worried about the possibility of side effects then a chat with your doctor before taking fish oil will put your mind at ease.
Finally, if you take the correct dose, keep your fish oil in the fridge and take your supplements at mealtimes then the chances are the only effect you will feel is a greater sense of wellbeing and perhaps a lighter mood.

ADHD Support Groups: Why Joining One Can Help You
ADHD Support Groups: Why Joining One Can Help You by Alvin Toh
Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is a condition that can have a significant impact on your quality of life when you don't get the proper care and support. Whether you have ADHD or whether a family member or friend has been diagnosed with it, joining an ADHD support group can help you deal better with the disorder.
ADHD support groups enable ADHD adults or parents of ADHD children to talk with people who are going through a similar situation. They also provide information and guidance to help you understand and deal with this disorder. You will be able to discuss coping strategies as a sufferer or as a parent to an ADHD child.
Local ADHD support groups meet regularly, at least once a month. These groups may meet at a local church, school or hospital. They offer the opportunity to meet with other people in your area. Look for support groups that cater to your special needs. For example, parents who have children with ADHD may choose to join an ADHD parent support group. Likewise, there are support groups for ADHD adult. Other support groups may cater to teens, teachers or family members.
Support groups often give out literature containing useful information about ADHD. They also provide local resources that you can use to help with dealing with ADHD. These resources can be invaluable. The meetings often feature guest speakers who are professionally trained in dealing with ADHD patients and their families.
Online groups are also a popular way to get support when dealing with ADHD. These groups can be found through ADHD websites. Online groups offer many of the same support systems as local groups and may be more convenient for you. Some have meetings online as webinars where you can participate in real-time. Others have message boards and forums where you can participate by giving comments and asking questions.
It can be a real challenge caring for an ADHD child. The unpredictable behaviors of the child can be overwhelming and stressful for the family members to handle. There are often many issues that can occur which you may not fully understand. Other people who have been through similar situations can give you advice on how to handle things. Meeting these people through ADHD support groups can make you feel that you are not alone and you don't have to go through it on your own.
If there are no support groups locally, you may want to consider starting your own ADHD support group. Gather literature and talk to others who may have an interest in joining this group. Find a local place to meet such as a library, at a church or community center. Advertise your group to attract interested members. You can invite local professionals to speak at your meetings. The meetings should allow some time to network with other members. Include an open forum setting where people can discuss problems or questions that they may have.

Melatonin Can Help Improve Your Sleep And Your Tinnitus
Melatonin Can Help Improve Your Sleep And Your Tinnitus by Simon Healy
Melatonin Can Help Improve Your Sleep And Your Tinnitus
A daily supplement of Melatonin may help improve your tinnitus and sleep patterns.
It certainly has in my case since I've been taking it over the last 6 months after having extremely loud Tinnitus for the last 14 years.
Melatonin is actually a hormone that is secreted by the pineal gland which is situated in the centre of your brain. Melatonin which is stimulated by the onset of darkness at nighttime is a very important factor in the human body's circadian cycle or your internal body clock.

Melatonin Can Help Improve Your Sleep And Your Tinnitus
A daily supplement of Melatonin may help improve your tinnitus and sleep patterns.
